The Palm Story

From Seed to Sovereign Fuel:

Our End-to-End Process

At the core of CDD Australia’s agricultural strategy is a 20–30 Ha advanced nursery. Here, we nurture high-yield Dura, Pisifera, and Tenera oil palm tree seedlings, cloned specifically for shorter statures, larger fruit sizes, and superior. Transplanted at a precise density of 140–144 trees per hectare, the plantations feature specialized rainwater collection infrastructure and state-of-the-art controlled irrigation. To ensure total sustainability, the crops are nourished with Biochar organic fertilizers produced on-site from our own refining by-products, while Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) collection is fully mechanized to elevate workforce safety and efficiency that would assist in Oil Extraction Rates (OER).

Downstream, our refinery employs the latest extraction technologies to process Crude Palm Oil (CPO) into premium Palm Methyl Ester (PME) and Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME). When blended with aggregated Used Cooking Oil (UCO), this process yields high-performance B100 fuel meeting rigorous ASTM D6751 standards. Furthermore, the refinery's flexible design is fully equipped to manufacture Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by combining primary CPO and CPKO with UCO and carbon-rich lignocellulosic materials like Palm Kernel Shells (PKS) and Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB), delivering a masterpiece of circular industrial engineering.

The Beema Bamboo Story

Operational Phase: Agronomy, Nursery & Infrastructure Layout

The primary objective of the tissue-cultured nursery is to transition delicate tissue-cultured, lab-stage micro-shoots into resilient, field-ready saplings. This rigorous hardening process is executed across three distinct environments:

  • Greenhouse / Mist Chamber (Primary Hardening): Maintains high humidity (above 70%) and a controlled temperature range of 25°C to 30°C to stabilize and acclimate raw tissue-culture plantlets.

  • Hardening / Shade Net House (Secondary Hardening): Utilizes 50% green shade netting to gradually expose young plants to ambient air while protecting them from direct, scorching sunlight.

  • Open Hardening Beds (Final Field Acclimation): Fully exposed, open-air fields equipped with overhead sprinklers where saplings spend their final 1 to 2 months adapting to full, natural sunlight.

Land Preparation & Soil Engineering

To guarantee rapid root establishment and long-term crop vitality, land preparation must align with strict soil and drainage criteria:

  • Soil Metrics: Well-drained loamy or sandy-loam soils with an optimal pH range between 5.5 and 7.0 are prioritized.

  • Subsoil Shattering: Fields must be deeply cross-ploughed to a depth of 30–45 cm at least three weeks prior to planting. This critical step shatters hardpan subsoil layers, enabling rapid, early root penetration.

  • Hydrological Management: While Beema Bamboo demands consistent moisture to maximize biomass output, it is highly intolerant of waterlogging. The field layout must integrate pre-engineered drainage channels to prevent root-zone saturation.

Advanced Fertigation Infrastructure

To unlock peak commercial biomass yields, targeting 40 to 50 tonnes of dry biomass per acre annually by year 4 or 5—the plantation relies on a precision drip irrigation network integrated with an automated fertigation unit.

Precision Water Management: Drip lines deliver water and dissolved macro-nutrients directly to the root zone, optimizing resource consumption. While mature bamboo clumps are exceptionally drought-hardy, early growth velocity improves by over 40% when consistent irrigation is maintained for the first 24 months.

Project Brief

Infrastructure & Circular Foundation

CDD Australia begins at the intersection of advanced refining and precision agriculture. Our foundation blends immediate commercial viability with long-term sovereign infrastructure:

Immediate Revenue & Waste Mitigation

  • UCO & Tallow Aggregation: Turning regional waste oils into premium B100 Biodiesel from day one.

  • 100% Waste Conversion: Diverting land-clearing and process biomass into a state-of-the-art Biochar system to create premium agricultural inputs.

Energy Autonomy & Resource Shielding Internal operations are powered by > 100MW+ Solar in the plantations and captive steam energy system within the refinery facility. To maximize resource protection, our rainwater harvesting reservoirs are sheltered by evaporation-reducing Solar PV networks. Paired with a robust BESS infrastructure, this microgrid delivers clean, self-generated power to our entire electric EV harvesting fleet.

Plantation Scaling & Vertical Integration

As the project matures, operations expand into a 10,000+ hectare certified tropical plantation, driving massive vertical integration:

  • Oil Palm Plantation Yield: >150,000 tonnes of Fresh Fruit Bunches annually [5,000 Ha].

  • CPO Refinery Yield: Producing >30,000 tonnes of CPO into >32 million liters of certified low-carbon Biodiesel per annum.

  • Beema Bamboo Plantation Yield: >600,000 tonnes of Bamboo annually [5,000 Ha].

  • Gasification + FT Refinery Yield: Producing >600,000 tonnes of  Bamboo into >100 million liters of certified low-carbon SAF per annum.

Strategic Engineering Highlights

  • Net-Zero Water Blueprint: Complete 100% process water recycling via state-of-the-art clarification loops.

  • Fossil-Free Supply Chain: Zero-emission field logistics using solar-charged electric harvesting machinery.

  • Geographic Advantage: Positioned in the Australian tropics for elite growth velocity and rapid deployment to the Defence, Mining, and Transport sectors.

Our Core Commitments

Our Strategic Pillars & Market Position

  • Pioneering International Certification: We are establishing Australia's first commercial plantations engineered from day one to achieve full ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), EU RED III (Renewable Energy Directive), EUDR, and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) compliance. This rigorous approach guarantees immediate access to high-premium, supply-deficient global carbon and energy markets.

  • Decoupling Fuel from Food: Our agricultural strategy explicitly safeguards the human food chain. By focusing on high-yield, non-food biomass varieties and cultivating sustainable feedstocks, we protect global food security while ensuring a massive, reliable stream of industrial-grade energy feedstock.

  • Unrivaled Domestic Scale: We are committed to building and operating the nation's largest palm and bamboo plantation footprint across the Northern Tropics, transforming underutilized regional capacity into a dominant, sovereign feedstock powerhouse.

  • The One-Stop Refinery Innovation: CDD Australia is positioning the nation at the forefront of clean-tech infrastructure by deploying a breakthrough, integrated hybrid refinery. This advanced facility will be the first in the country capable of producing multiple vital low-carbon fuels—including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Renewable Diesel (RD), and Biodiesel (B100)—all from a single, vertically integrated footprint.
